Gorse, a non-native plant that was seen as a pest in the past. Since then they've found that gorse-covered hills provide a suitable sheltered environment for native trees to grow in.

Rock wall on one side, steep slopes on another, and this cute springtime scene right on our path. We resorted to plan B: climb up rocks, climb over fence, climb down back on path.
Our bovine path-blocking friends still busy blocking the path, while we carefully clamber our way around them. Question for the audience: why are the calves white and the cows black?
