Happy birthday Willemijn!
Our car dies, but we make new friends!
We get out of bed and jump right into the ocean. It wakes us up in mere nanoseconds, since the water is slightly on the chilly side...
The plan is to drive to Coromandel town and from there head to the east coast of the peninsula. From there, we'll head down across the North Island to Wellington.
We stop to walk around in the hills above Coromandel Town and meet Graeme and Joan, a very friendly and outgoing couple who invite us for lunch. We go to Long Bay Holiday Park where they're staying, and we have a great time, not to mention a delicious lunch with sausages and avocados.
After lunch, we say goodbye to Graeme and Joan and exchange addresses, but after 15 minutes, we're back at the holiday park. Our car died. It still drives, but it barely makes it to 30Km/h, so something is obviously not right.
To make a long story short, a mechanic will look at the car tomorrow, we stay at the holiday park next to Graeme and Joan and have a really wonderful time. Good thing too, since it's Willemijn's birthday today.
